by Ben Crocker
Long John Silver may be a dastardly villain, but he’s reckoned without the Ladies of the Smuggler’s Cove Women’s Institute! This is Ben Crockers’s largest cast pantomime and a madcap, laugh a minute pirate adventure story from start to finish!
Perfect for the entire family, Theatre Now! is bringing this adaptation of the beloved “Treasure Island” to the Evergreen Theatre January 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27th with show times at 7 on the Fridays & Saturdays and matinees on the Sundays.
Entrance is by donation, making live theatre affordable for everyone.
Directed by veteran Theatre Now! member, Tina Thompson, there are jokes, songs and dancing and hilarity throughout.
Following the traditional British Pantomime style, there are women in men’s roles, men in women’s roles, love-crossed lovers, the comedic duo, scary creatures, live music and audience interaction.
You will recognise the familiar faces of Ted Durnin as the dame, Mike Bamford as Long John Silver, Tricia Andrews as both members of the comedic duo, Nicole Narbonne as the aging parrot, Radhika Samwald as the president of the Women’s Institute and Al Dickon on piano with a cast made up of local characters from nine to sixty-nine.
Be prepared to cheer for the goodies and boo the baddies, and general silliness will ensue.
Thanks to the Arts Council for making this possible with their grant in kind.

Here is your guide to audience participation when you come to our Christmas Pantomime:
1. Be enthusiastic! React to whatever happens. It gives us confidence!
2. Cheer for Robin Hood & boo the evil Sheriff. Really, it's ok. They want you to.
3. Laugh at all our jokes! We’ve worked hard on our comedic timing.
4. Clap after all the songs. It takes a lot of courage to sing on stage!
5. Turn off your cell phone, and boo anyone who doesn’t!
6. Have a wonderful time at the show, and tell your friends to come to the next one!
